house g

this family’s single-family house is located in the bühlau district of dresden, set back from the street and adjacent to an open landscape characterized by fruit trees. the trapezoidal floor plan follows the boundaries of the property, with the entrance accentuated by a void in the northern section. the kitchen is located to the east of the entrance and opens up to the south, benefiting from passive solar gains, along with the adjacent living areas. a separate study room to the west can also serve as a guest area. the upper floor contains the private spaces, all oriented toward the south. the facade bands combine transparent and opaque areas, which support the form of the building. the sloping roof avoids conventional gable, saddle, or flat roofs and drains water inward. for geotechnical reasons, the building has a white tank structure. the building’s rigidity is ensured through element slab ceilings, as well as cross and longitudinal walls. the ceilings are supported in two directions by walls and beams. a continuous beam in the ground floor carries the load, while the exterior wall consists of 24 cm hollow core bricks with external thermal insulation composite systems.
